Finding a Better Way to Work and Parent
As working moms, my sister and I always felt torn between our careers and the desire to be present for our children. We loved our work, but we also wanted to be there for the little moments—breastfeeding on demand, spontaneous hugs, watching our kids learn and grow. Traditional daycare and coworking spaces didn’t offer the intentional closeness we craved, so we set out to create something different.
That’s how Yalla was born—a coworking and childcare space in San Diego where parents can be productive while staying connected to their little ones in a nurturing, play-based environment.
The Challenge of Work-Life Balance- For many parents, the struggle is real:
- You want to be present for your child, but you also need to work.
- Traditional daycare often means long separations.
- Working from home comes with distractions and the challenge of meeting professional expectations while caring for a little one.
Yalla bridges the gap. Our space isn’t just about convenience—it’s about intention. We believe parents shouldn’t have to choose between their careers and their children. Instead, they should have an option that allows them to do both—without guilt.
How Yalla’s Integrated Approach Works
We designed Yalla to reflect the real needs of modern parents—especially those who, like us, wanted a community-focused environment that supports both work and parenthood.
Here’s what makes our model unique:- On-Site Childcare: Parents can work just steps away from their children, offering peace of mind and flexibility for nursing, breaks, or just saying "hi" between meetings.
- Reggio-Inspired Play-Based Learning: Our childcare program fosters curiosity, independence, and creativity, ensuring kids are thriving while parents focus.
- A Supportive Parent Community: A built-in network of other working parents who get it.
- A Work Environment that Works for Parents: Thoughtfully designed coworking spaces that encourage productivity without isolating you from your role as a parent.
Intentional Parenting, Intentional Work
At Yalla, we believe that work-life balance doesn’t have to be an either-or decision. We created this space because we needed it ourselves—and we knew other parents did too. Instead of constantly feeling like you’re falling short at work or as a parent, why not create a system that truly supports both?
If you’re a parent looking for a space where you can work, connect, and be close to your child—we invite you to experience Yalla.
